ABOUT:
Dimitri Malignan is a highly acclaimed young French pianist known for his musical intelligence, sensitivity, and maturity. At just 19, he became the youngest recipient of the Prix Cortot in 2017. In 2021, he won 3rd Prize, the Audience Award, and the Bach Award at the Concours Musical International de Montréal.
Born in Paris in 1998, he comes from a Romanian musical lineage, being the grandson of composer Henry Mălineanu (1920-2000). He started piano lessons at five with Nicolas Horvath, and his studies took him across Europe. Recognized early by Jean-Paul Sévilla, he later trained under Ludmila Berlinskaya at the École Normale de Musique de Paris ‘Alfred Cortot’, graduating with the highest honors. He continued his education at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Naum Grubert, earning a Master’s degree cum laude in 2020.
