About:
Pinnaree Yontararak Kurzydło is a board certified music therapist based in Bangkok. She grew up in a musical family and have been around music all her life. Her father, an awarded Thai contemporary artist and a Steinway artist, is a pianist and a composer. Her family has a private piano school in Bangkok — Nat Studio. Seeing many people around her playing the piano was her first inspiration to start learning at the age of 5 with her father, Nat Yontararak.
With her father’s encouragement, she has been performing since she was 7 years old in the US, as well as Singapore and Thailand. Her musical journey turned more serious when she was 14 years old. She was offered to study in France with Desiré N’Kaoua at École Normale de Musique de Paris, with the support from K. Charoen and Khunying Wanna Sirivadhanabhakdi. Unfortunately due to some difficulties, she didn’t have the opportunity to pursue her Diploma and had to return to Thailand. She continued to develop her skill with her father and perform from time to time.
As music continues to be a crucial part in her life, her interest expanded towards how she can use music to help others. She became interested in Music Therapy and went on to the UK to complete her MA in Music Therapy where she continued to study piano with Philip Fowke. She is now one of the very few music therapists working in mental health in Thailand.
Today playing the piano is still very dear to her heart. Not only that she is using it in Music Therapy to help others; but she is also teaching young people to feel music through their playing.
